Enable invoice tips

Turn on gratuities, set your suggested percentages, and see where tips appear once a customer pays.

Tipping lets a customer add a gratuity when they pay an invoice online. It’s on by default, so there’s usually nothing to switch on — but this is where you confirm it’s enabled, choose the suggested percentages customers see, and learn where the gratuity shows up afterward.

Before you start: sign in with an account that can manage settings (an operator/employer account). Tips ride your online payment link, so your Stripe account must be connected under Settings > Integrations — customers only see the tip option on invoices they can pay online.

  5. Turning tips off

Clear the Enable tips checkbox and select Save to switch tipping off. Customers then see no tip option anywhere they pay — both the emailed invoice link and the customer portal hide it. Your suggested percentages stay saved on this card for whenever you turn tips back on.

  6. Choosing your percentages

You can suggest fewer than three percentages — clear a box you don’t need and save. Whatever you set, customers always also get a Custom amount field and a No tip option, so you’re choosing the suggestions, not the only choices. Values outside 1–100 aren’t accepted.

  7. What your customer sees

On their invoice, the customer picks one of your suggested percentages, types a custom amount, or chooses No tip, and watches the total update before paying. The full customer walkthrough is in add a tip to an invoice.

  8. The gratuity on the invoice

Once a customer tips and pays, the invoice shows a Gratuity line — labeled with the tip as a percentage of the subtotal, e.g. Gratuity (18%) — and a tip-inclusive Total Quote Amount. Open any tipped invoice from Invoicing & Payments to see it.

  9. On the PDF and receipt

Select Preview (or Actions > Download PDF) on the invoice and the Gratuity line and tip-inclusive Total appear on the branded document the customer receives, too.

  10. In your revenue totals

Gratuities count toward your earnings: collected tips are folded into your Dashboard revenue and your job and customer revenue totals, so the figures reflect the money actually received, not just the pre-tip invoice amount.

  11. Tips are live

Tipping is on, your suggested percentages are set, and customers can add a gratuity when they pay. Every tip shows on the invoice, on the PDF/receipt, and in your revenue totals.
