Schedule and manage a recurring job

Build a daily, weekly, or monthly job series, preview every date, and manage one occurrence or the whole series.

jobs scheduler recurrence repeat series calendar

Recurrence turns one scheduled job into a series without making you enter every date. Set a daily, weekly, or monthly pattern, preview the dates CleanOps will create, then manage one occurrence or the future series.

This guide focuses on recurrence. For calendar views, filters, and one-off scheduling, see schedule a job.

  • Before you schedule a recurring job

You need a customer, a start date and time, and permission to create or update jobs. CleanOps evaluates recurrence in the account timezone, so the local job time stays consistent when daylight-saving time changes. Job update permission covers editing and cancelling one occurrence; cancelling the whole series additionally needs the separate job cancel permission, and job delete permission separately controls Delete Series. With read-only access, New Job, edit, cancellation, deletion, and the technician filter are absent. Opening an edit URL directly returns to Schedule with You don’t have permission to edit this job.

    Open the job form

Open Schedule, select New Job, and enter the customer, start date and time, duration, location, service details, and technician as you would for a one-off job. Scroll to Recurrence before saving.

    Turn on recurrence

Select Enable repeat. CleanOps expands Repeat every, On, Ends, and Skip public holidays, then shows a result banner below the controls. Turning the switch off removes the pending rule; it does not change an existing series until you save.

    Choose a daily schedule

For a daily pattern, set Repeat every to a positive whole number and choose days. Use 1 day for every day or a larger interval such as 2 days for every other day. The On row is not used for day intervals, and the banner restates the cadence and first dates.

  • 4

    Choose a weekly schedule

Choose weeks, set the interval, then select one or more weekday chips under On. You can use one day or combine Monday through Sunday; selected days are scheduled in calendar order. At least one weekday must remain selected before the job can be saved.

    Anchor a monthly schedule

Choose months, then select either day or the. day repeats on a numbered day from 1 through 31. the repeats on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or last occurrence of a weekday—for example, the last Friday. Only the active monthly anchor is saved.

  • How monthly anchors handle shorter months

A numbered anchor keeps its original intent. A rule anchored to day 31 uses the final day in a shorter month, then returns to day 31 when a later month has it. An nth-weekday rule uses the final matching weekday when the selected occurrence would otherwise fall beyond the month.

  • 6

    Choose when recurrence ends

Under Ends, choose Never, After, or On. After takes the total number of occurrences; On takes the final eligible date. Never creates a rolling 12-month schedule that CleanOps continues to materialize. Turn on Skip public holidays to account for supported U.S. federal holidays.

  • Recurrence limits and public holidays

After accepts 1–100 occurrences. An On end date can be no more than two years after the job’s own start date. The job’s own start date is always the first occurrence and counts toward After, even when it does not match the pattern you chose. Skip public holidays moves an affected visit forward to the next day that is not a holiday rather than dropping it, and it works the same way for the first occurrence and every later one; a visit is only dropped when moving it would reach the next date the pattern already claims. An After rule continues until it has produced the requested number of dates, so its last generated date can fall beyond the two-year On boundary.

    Preview the scheduled dates

Read the banner headline and first dates, then select Preview all dates for a bounded series. The modal lists every date, marks the next and last scheduled dates, and shows the total. A Never rule instead offers Preview next 12 months and identifies the rolling horizon. Select Close or press Escape to return without changing the rule.

  • Fix recurrence errors

Recurrence errors appear only after you select Save & Schedule. The summary says Recurrence needs attention before this job can be saved. Correct the flagged control: the interval must be a whole number above zero; weeks needs at least one weekday; a monthly day must be 1–31; an On end needs a valid date; After needs 1–100 occurrences; and an end date cannot be before the start. A failed create makes no series; a failed edit leaves the stored rule and occurrences unchanged. Cancel closes the form without saving and also preserves them. While a rule is incomplete, the banner says Finish the fields above to see the dates this schedules.

Schedule multiple dates instead of recurrence

Use + Add Date when the dates do not follow one pattern. Enter each extra date, time, and duration; Remove deletes that row. The form keeps the discrete dates and warns If you add multiple dates, recurrence will be disabled for this job. Saving produces one job that carries every date — not a job per date, and not a series. That is the opposite of recurrence, where each occurrence becomes its own job in Job History.

    Save and verify the series

Select Save & Schedule. CleanOps closes the form, confirms the job was created, and generates the occurrences. Open a job chip to compare its Recurrence summary with the saved rule, then check Job History to see each occurrence as its own job. Opening Edit again should restore every recurrence control and the job notes exactly as saved.

  • 10

    Edit a recurring schedule

Open a recurring job and select Edit. Change a recurrence field, review the new preview, and save; CleanOps reconciles the future occurrence set to the new rule. Saving without changing recurrence preserves the existing occurrence records. Editing an ordinary field such as the time on one non-root occurrence changes that occurrence only.

Cancel one job or the series

Open Change Status, choose cancelled, and save. In Cancel job or entire series?, select Cancel This Job to cancel only the open occurrence. Cancel Series cancels every scheduled occurrence whose start time is now or later—including the open occurrence when it is still upcoming—while preserving earlier history. CleanOps confirms Cancelled. Use the Canceled status filter on Schedule to display canceled calendar jobs; in Job History, select Canceled before searching a canceled job code. Back changes nothing. A user with job update permission—including an assigned technician—can cancel one occurrence. Cancelling the series additionally needs the separate job cancel permission, and permanent deletion needs job delete permission.

  • 12

    Permanently delete a series

A user with job delete permission can select Delete Series from the cancellation choices. CleanOps asks Permanently delete this series? and warns that every job in the series will be permanently deleted. Select Back to close the confirmation with every job unchanged, or confirm only when the whole series and its jobs should be removed with no recovery. A successful deletion confirms Series deleted.

  • Your recurring schedule is under control

The saved rule, date preview, Schedule, and Job History now agree. You can adjust future recurrence, change one occurrence independently, cancel one job or the future series with update permission, and reserve permanent deletion for users who have delete permission.

  • Keep recurring schedules predictable

    • Preview boundary dates before saving monthly and holiday-skipping rules.
    • Prefer After or On when the agreement has a known finish.
    • Use cancellation when history should remain; use permanent deletion only when the entire series should be removed.
    • For calendar navigation and filtering, see schedule a job. For work completed on one occurrence, see manage a job.
